Born in Baltimore, Maryland, November 2, 1826, and there was reared a
gardener. In the month of August 1851, he arrived in California and came
direct to Santa Clara county, settling with J.H. Ogier on the place now
occupied by that gentleman. Here our subject resided until 1859, when
selling out he moved to his present farm containing eighty-seven acres,
where he raises all kinds of fruit and asparagus. Married in Baltimore,
July 16, 1857.
