A. E. Wilder
was born in Green Lake County, Wisconsin, October 6, 1853, where he lived until
he was thirteen years old, when he moved with his parents to Iowa. He attended the public schools of Iowa and
the Jefferson Liberal Institute of Jefferson, Wisconsin. His commercial education was received at
Dubuque, Iowa. He came to California in
1882, and in the spring of 1885 was engaged as Assistant Cashier of the Bank of
Los Gatos. In January, 1886, he was
promoted Cashier, which position he now fills.
He was married in 1874, to Cynthia I. Tibbetts, a native of Oshkosh,
Wisconsin. Mr. Wilder was interested in
the Almond Grove Addition to Los Gatos, which was annexed to the city in
September, 1887. He was elected first
clerk of the Los Gatos Board of Trustees when the city was incorporated, and
served one term. He is a prominent Odd
Fellow, and has been connected with the order since 1877.
